This course enables students to further develop their knowledge and skills in visual arts. Students will use the creative process to explore a wide range of themes through studio work that may include drawing, painting, sculpting, and printmaking, as well as the creation of collage, multimedia works, and works using emerging technologies. Students will use the critical analysis process when evaluating their own work and the work of others. The course may be delivered as a comprehensive program or through a program focused on a particular art form (e.g., photography, video, computer graphics, and information design).

Art Theory and Graffiti Art (15 hours)Engage in personal reflection on creativity and art production. Solve visual and conceptual problems through exercises in creativity. Use appropriate art terminology in their oral and written work. Understand and explain how the elements and principles of design are reflected in a specific work. Learn about Graffiti art and its impact in society and politics

DRAWING (25 hours)Learn how to use a variety of drawing tools and materials effectively. Engage in studio activities to promote their ability to draw what they see. Understand sighting techniques rendering accurate proportion of the form. Explore techniques of drawing shadow and light using value and line. Practice their knowledge of composition and drawing techniques through the production of a large composite drawing.

ACRYLIC PAINTING (25 hours)Learn basic studio safety practices as well as proper maintenance of art tools. Produce accurate examples of basic colour theory using acrylic paint. Explore techniques of painting using acrylic paint. Demonstrate an understanding of chromatic colours through the creation of realistic painting. Practice their knowledge of composition and colour through the production of painting on canvas and in Chalk pastel.
